Bentonite matting is a lining product, supplied on rolls of 2m or 5m width, that consists of a layer of hydrated sodium bentonite retained by two layers of geotextile. It is an alternative to rubber pond liners but is more labour intensive to lay as there are more joints. It is not well suited to detailed applications but it does offer good ‘self healing' properties if punctured.
