Scott Rice joined Kingcombe Aquacare in 1998, having graduated from Sparsholt College with a BSc in Fishery Management and Worldwide Aquaculture.
He first dabbled in aquatics at a young age when he traded newts from the cow trough for sticklebacks! Some would say this was the start of the slippery slope into the world of Aquaculture. He had his first fishing rod at the age of 8, a red one, bought on holiday in Lyme Regis, Dorset
In the thirteen years that Scott has worked for Kingcombe, he has worked on major projects in the engineering division, cutting his teeth lining ponds and building ornamental waterfalls. He has since progressed to lead and manage the thriving Maintenance division. Scott is a dedicated member of the company who is driven to consistently deliver the highest level of Fisheries Management. His goal is to continually represent the company ethos and mission to the height of professionalism.
Additional to his degree and professional experience, Scott has also achieved BASIS qualification for the use of aquatic herbicides to support all aspects of the maintenance work. Scott also regularly attends Non Native Invasive species workshops to keep up to date with current issues and legislation.
As Fisheries and Maintenance Manager, he is responsible for all aspects of work within the Maintenance Division, providing regular water quality, pump and fountain maintenance for a variety of clients, as well as carrying out one-off maintenance tasks such as pond and vegetation clearance, bank repairs and revetment
The success of the Kingcombe’s Maintenance Division is largely attributed to Scott’s strong customer relationships, with large contractors returning year after year to guarantee Kingcombe’s quality assurance.
A proud and dedicated member of the Institute of Fisheries Management, having worked on large pump ashore facilities in Scotland and latterly remote cage sites in the Greek islands. Scott’s knowledge of fisheries work is second to none. He takes responsibility for applying for Section 30 licences and liaising with the Environment Agency regarding the movement and welfare of fish, ensuring the activities of the Company comply with all the current legislation and statutory regulations.
Scott’s passion for all things fishy have taken him around the world from the sports fishing capital of the world The Florida Keys to barren coasts of Senegal and Gambia on the West coast of Africa.
Scott lives in Somerset with his wife Alex and their son, George.
